Planning a trip to Lloydminster? Explore top attractions, local restaurants, hidden gems, and must-see sights on both the Saskatchewan and Alberta sides of the city with this ultimate 48-hour travel guide.
A city split right down the middle between two provinces, Lloydminster is a unique destination to visit, and one you don’t want to miss out on! To help you make the most of your time in the bi-provincial city, we’ve put together the ultimate itinerary for your next travel adventure, whether you’re on a family road trip or in town for business.
This guide will be split like the city itself, with a full day spent on either side of the border, though of course, there’s nothing wrong with a little border hopping here if you want to mix and match!
Starting in Saskatchewan, there’s no shortage of attractions to check out, whether you’re looking to embrace the outdoors or stay cool inside. Step one, though, is checking into your hotel. Luckily, Home Inn & Suites by d3h™ — Lloydminster is on the Saskatchewan side of the city and has all of the amenities you could want for the perfect stay: suites, pool and hot tub, and complimentary breakfast.
Since this day is all about adventure, we’ve put together a list of attractions to check out. One or two is a great day, all four is a day to remember!
Golfing & Curling Centre: Get the ultimate golf experience during your stay. This 18-hole championship golf course with PGA of Canada teaching facility is one of the top golf courses in Canada! Here, you can discover a whole new game!
Gopher Hill Paintball Inc.: Feeling like getting in touch with your wild side? Nothing beats a good old-fashioned game of paintball! Trust us, there’s no better exercise!

Sandy Beach Regional Park: Get wet and wild at the lake! The public beach offers slides, diving boards, a playground, and so much more. This is your chance to relax a little with a good book, or kick things up a notch, whatever you’re feeling!
Gold Horse Casino: The casino is your one-stop shop for food, entertainment, and good times, which makes it a great place to end your night! Grab some food, catch a show, and play a couple of rounds at the tables or machines. Who knows, you may even get lucky!
The Proper Eats & Drinks: Locally owned and family operated, what more could you want? How about the best burger this side of Saskatchewan? Yeah, we said it. Best burger, hands down!
Recommendation: BBQ Bacon Burger; you can never go wrong with whiskey BBQ sauce and bacon. If you enjoy a little spice, though, the Jalapeno Burger will deliver!
Chopstix Pho & Grill: Another family-run restaurant; you won’t find better Thai and Vietnamese cuisine than this!
Recommendation: You can’t go wrong with any Pho Noodle Soup, though our favourite is the Brisket Pho! Don’t forget the spring rolls to start!

Sushi Crazy: Sushi lovers, this is your spot! There’s no shortage of classic and unique rolls to satisfy your taste buds, from California rolls and sashimi to fried rolls like the Heart Attack or Popcorn Lobster roll.
Recommendation: Honestly, we can’t choose just one; we recommend them all!

Of course, you can’t come to Lloydminster without visiting Main Street and the border markers! It’s tradition to hop from one side to the other (don’t think about how silly you look! It’s all in good fun, and we’ve all done it.).
Moving into the Alberta side, it’s time to slow down and take things easy. Here we’ll be checking out the arts scene, as well as kicking back at the park.

Lloydminster Museum & Archives: Explore the history of Lloydminster through the museum, art gallery, wildlife display, and science centre! A great stop for adults and kids alike.
Bud Miller All Seasons Park: Kick back at the lakefront park, where you can have a lovely picnic, play a round of disc golf, splash in the spray pad, or simply enjoy the views.
Vic Juba Community Theatre: Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show, whether it be a concert, drama, comedian, illusionist, or more! There’s always something going on at the theatre that you don’t want to miss. It’s the perfect cap to your stay.

Timber Café: A cozy coffee shop surrounded by lush greenery? Sign us up! Even better, it’s nestled in a quiet corner of Home Hardware, so you can get some shopping in after enjoying your coffee. (Seriously, don’t sleep on this Home Hardware; it’s not your average building centre!)
Recommendation:
Blowers & Grafton: Authentic Halifax street food served with East Coast hospitality without the plane ticket. This is your go-to for maritime food in the heart of the West!
Recommendation: For Halifax food, we’re going lobster all day! It’s a toss-up between the Creamy Truffle Lobster Mac and the Mini Lobster Rolls, though really, there’s no wrong answer.
4th Meridian Brewing Co.: Locally owned craft beer that has a down-to-earth atmosphere and a dog-friendly taproom? We’re there! Make it a pit stop on your day of relaxation or end the night here. There’s no bad way to enjoy good beer!
Recommendation: The Rig Up Red, red ale, is a bestseller for a reason.
Lloydminster has so much to offer, and its unique status as a bi-provincial city is only the tip of the iceberg, making it a must-stop on your next Saskatchewan/Alberta road trip! We hope this 48-hour guide helps you make the most of your time here, and don’t forget to hop between the border markers; it’s tradition after all!
