The votes are in, and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan has been rated one of the top ten best destinations in Canada. According to USA TODAY 10Best Reader’s Choice awards, Saskatoon ranks fourth in the country of must-see places, and has been recognized as one of the “dreamiest spots in Canada” by Darling Magazine.
Of course, it’s no secret amongst locals that Saskatoon is an amazing place to be. Here are a few of our favourite things about the city:
FOOD & DRINK
Hungry for something new? The wine and dine scene in Saskatchewan is worth a boast, with loads of independent restaurants, local breweries and and exceptional ethnic eateries from Burmese and Indian to Jamaican and Mexican. New restaurants are always popping up throughout the city, featuring unique cuisines made from fresh, local ingredients. You’ll find plenty of bars and pubs as well, with warm atmospheres, friendly locals and incredible libations.
ARTS & CULTURE
Though Saskatoon may be a relatively young Canadian city, it certainly has no lack of creative expression, cultural vibrancy and historic intrigue. With plenty of museums, art performances and cultural events, visitors will discover a wealth of exciting things to do and see. For museums, we have The Western Development Museum, the Ukranian Museum of Canada, Mendel Art Gallery and much more. For arts events, we have the Saskatoon Folk Fest, Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan, SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz fest, and more than we can list.
No need to stay inside. Tucked right along the incredible South Saskatchewan River, Saskatoon has tonnes of great things to see and do outdoors. Our riverside location, huge parks and green, open spaces makes Saskatoon a popular destination for hikers, bikers, canoers, paddleboarders and more. The Meewasin Valley Trail is a great walk for winding past city parks and historical sites, while the Wanuskewin Heritage Park, located just outside the city, is an incredible archeological site worth a wander.
In truth, we would need an entire book to properly talk about all the amazing things Saskatoon has going on, and the list is ever growing. No matter what draws you to our riverside city, there’s something for everyone to enjoy and discover. Come stay at Home Inn & Suites Saskatoon South, where you’ll enjoy well appointed amenities and a convenient 10 minute distance from downtown. Book your room today!
